Big Dave
Ostrander's FoodCost Pro 2 Software
Food cost
calculation and menu engineering
analysis to help make a restaurant
more profitable. FoodCost Pro can be
used alone or with Point of Success
POS software.
Big Dave Ostrander
created the original FoodCost Pro to
help his consulting clients understand
the details of their food cost and the
relationship of portion control to
their restaurant's profitability.
Point of Success developers worked
closely with Big Dave to completely
rework FoodCost Pro to improve its
usability and add great new features
to make the software even more useful!
FoodCost Pro is
designed for use in any type of
restaurant and has shortcut features
that make it easy to use in pizzerias.
\Enter
ingredients and their prices
Grab your supplier
invoices and enter each ingredient you
purchase. No matter what you serve or
how you purchase food, ingredient
costs are easy to enter. Stored with
each ingredient is the vendor, package
size and usable quantity.

Updating ingredient
costs as they change is equally
simple. Ingredient cost changes are
made in a spreadsheet-style window
from supplier invoices.
Create recipes for
each item you serve
Using the
ingredients already entered in
FoodCost Pro, create recipes for each
item on your menu. If FoodCost Pro is
used with Point of Success, your
product list can be imported to create
the entree list automatically.
As ingredient costs
change, entree costs are automatically
recalculated to give you
up-to-the-minute cost information.

Recipes can be
printed from FoodCost Pro to help the
kitchen with preparation and portion
control.
Analyze
combinations and promotions
FoodCost Pro can
calculate costs for promotional items
and combinations. Learn to create
promotions that are attractive to
customers and profitable for your
restaurant.

Items from the
Entree list are grouped into a
combination to calculate the cost of
promotional items and coupons.
Menu engineering
made easy
Menu engineering is
the analysis of the popularity
and profitability
of the items you serve. Selling more
of your popular and profitable dishes
help your restaurant become more
profitable.

Enter the quantity
and total selling price for each
entree sold in a period. If you use
FoodCost Pro with Point of Success,
this sales information can be
automatically imported. Print the Menu
Engineering Analysis report to
determine the popularity and
profitability of each item on the
menu.
The result of menu
engineering is that featuring and
promoting the most popular and
profitable items on your menu will
help improve your restaurant's
profitability!
Works with
Point of Success software
FoodCost Pro
exchanges information with Point of
Success POS software to make using the
program faster and easier. Import
entrees from Point of Success, import
sales information from Point of
Success, and export food cost
information to Point of Success.
FoodCost Pro is also designed to work
well in restaurants with another POS
system or no POS system.
